Haiku 2.0

Design Firm: Sona Reddy Studio
Principal Architect: Sona Reddy
Location: Hyderabad, India
Project Typology: F&B
Photographer: Richa Kashelkar

The newest branch of Haiku in Hyderabad pays homage to the formerly designed space by the studio. Both locations bearing a common thread of design elements that have witnessed a spruce up at the latest venue.

This 2,400 sqft Pan-Asian fine dining venue which was designed & executed over March-October 2019, displays a romance between the shade of azure blue with a collage of materiality which echoes the space’s aura.

Haiku’s layout integrates the open kitchen section with the seating area, a conscious design choice that blurs the boundaries between the process of meal preparation & guests thus giving the whole dining experience an intimate value.

A monochromatic color scheme across the expanse of the space bathes the walls. Inclusion of natural materials like wood varieties, cane, brickwork & pinewood open partitions make the replete with character. The spatial construct of the venue was designed with a conscious emphasis on the visual amalgamation of the outdoors & the indoors sprinkled with greens.

Design details at the restaurant are a conglomeration of elements. Oxide-finish walls, custom cane seat backrests, handcrafted wooden bird installations by local artisans, Tandur flooring & Japanese windows represent the global-eclectic yet rooted persona of Haiku.

This piece was curated for the design studio’s portfolio on their website.
